EduBoston announces prestigious re-accreditation

Monday, May 01, 2017

EduBoston is honored to announce its renewed accreditation with the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET), a non-for-profit organization committed to quality international educational travel and exchange for youth at the high school level.

EduBoston’s successful application confirms its commitment to meeting and exceeding the rigorous standards of CSIET.

“We go above and beyond what these standards call for,” said Madeleine Monaghan Golda, MBA, MAT, Executive Director of Academic Programs at EduBoston. “We’re very proud of the certification and our work here. We’ve earned a reputation for keeping our students ethically and morally safe.”

The 2017-2018 accreditation marks EduBoston’s 4th year of accreditation. The CSIET accreditation grants EduBoston with a full F-1 Inbound Listing for the 2017-2018 Advisory List of International Educational Travel and Exchange Programs. An F-1 visa is issued to international students who are attending an academic program at a U.S. educational institution.

Program training and site visits are key parts of the application process. Golda said EduBoston Program Managers and staff are continually engaged in training and development including case studies and required monthly webinars, and Host Families receive training and support at their annual orientation and through monthly webinars on topics such as academic support, computer safety, family activities and cooking. Teachers and staff at Partner Schools also are offered trained in cultural competency skills and change management, provided by Golda.

EduBoston’s adherence to the standards “ensures youth who are traveling to the U.S. for their education have a safe and valuable international experience, culturally and academically,” she said.

Golda said one of EduBoston’s most exceptional program attributes is the placement of a student with a Host Family, a matching process that is done ethically and with the best interests of both parties in mind. EduBoston is continually seeking qualified, loving families to host students who enroll in prestigious Partner Schools.

CSIET application requires EduBoston to prove the following:

  • Upholding its mission and being accountable

  • Fulfilling the educational needs of students

  • Establishing and maintaining goals

  • Conducting evaluations and surveys involving Host Families, Natural Parents, Partner Schools and EduBoston staff

  • Background checks on EduBoston staff and Host Families

  • Site visits

EduBoston is dedicated to developing best practices in the area of international education partnerships. Participation in the CSIET accreditation process is voluntary and an accepted listing is a tremendous endorsement of the EduBoston program.
